LET GO OF THE PAST
We naturally regret our past failures and relish our past victories and successes. While we do need to glance back to make sure we have learned from the past, we must keep pressing forward.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 3:13-14
The apostle Paul had regretful memories of hating Christ and Christians, as well as a positive religious past full of good deeds. He had to forget them all by not focusing on them. Rather, he had to keep pressing forward. In like manner, we cannot dwell on the bad or good that we have done in the past, but we must live actively in the present, while reaching forth to meet the challenges and opportunities that God has in front of us. Keep pressing forward!
