Why Are You Fearful?
Stormy circumstances will come to every life, and some more severe than others. How we respond to them is most important.
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
- Matthew 8:24-26
Christ was asleep on the boat with the disciples, but He sleeps no more! Even though he was present, they panicked, just as we sometimes do. His question is very revealing. “Why are you fearful?“ Fear cancels out faith, and faith cancels out fear. We must keep on believing God in the storms of life, no matter how severe they may be. He will surely see us through to the other side of the storm. Keep on praying and keep on trusting.
