WATCH MY MOUTH
It is so easy to say the wrong thing when we are frustrated, angry, or tempted by pride. We need much help in this area.
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. - Psalm 141:3
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. - Psalm 141:3
It has been said that we spend the first three years of life learning how to use our tongues, and the rest of our lives learning how to control them. David made this a matter of prayer. He asked the Lord to set a watch and guard his mouth so that he would not say the wrong thing at the wrong time. We not only need help in this area, but we also need God's wisdom and power to say the right thing at the right time. This is not a matter of God doing it or us doing it, but rather of Him working through us.
