AVOID SLIPPERY PLACES
There are places where we walk where we can easily slip and fall. But there is also a mindset that is slippery and will cause us to fall spiritually.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
- Psalm 73:2-3
Living in envy is a very slippery place for believers. It is dangerous to spend our time with our minds focused on others who appear to be prospering, be they godly or evil. To do so means we are not watching where we are going spiritually. Besides that, we never know the full story of what someone else is going through. It is better to focus on the Lord, and to thank Him for what He is doing in our lives every day. Comparison is always a slippery trap; we must do all we can to avoid it. And then we are free to trust the Lord to take care of us.
