WALK IN LOVE
Love is certainly not merely an emotion that comes and goes. And love is not an accident. We really don’t “fall” in love. Love is a choice made possible by the grace of God working in us.
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
- Ephesians 5:1-2
Love is a self-giving, caring commitment that seeks the highest good of others. That is what God demonstrated in Christ when He gave His life for our sins. Now we are to walk after that pattern in showing love to others. Sometimes there is emotion in it, but the prominent characteristic of love is sacrifice. We are to give willingly without regard to what we get in return. This is definitely not easy, but it is exactly what God has done for us. Let us commit to obey the Lord to walk in love, first to Him, and then to others.
