The Lord has given us the gift of speech among other qualities that set humans apart from the animals. And it is a powerful gift that requires wisdom and caution.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

God‘s Word is so powerful that He used it to create the world. Our words cannot do anything like that, but they do have a great impact upon those who hear. We speak life when we encourage, compliment, instruct, and speak from a heart of love. We speak death when we insult, slander, unjustly criticize, or lie. We can sadly remember harsh words that were spoken to us years ago. But we joyfully remember a compliment or a word of encouragement we received when we needed it most. Let us determine to speak life!
