REJOICE IN THE LORD ANYWAY
When we are going through difficult circumstances and it seems that nothing is going right, we can easily lose our joy if we are not careful.
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
- Habakkuk 3:17-18
Habakkuk was experiencing a financial crisis and much hardship, but he would not let it steal his joy. In like manner, we must remember that our joy is not rooted in our circumstances, our health, or even in our relationships with those we love the most. Our joy is in the Lord who never changes, and who will never leave us nor forsake us. Joy is a choice and not a feeling. In the worst times we can praise the Lord that no matter what happens, knowing that He is working for our good and for His glory. We cannot always rejoice in our circumstances, but we can always rejoice in the Lord.
