FLEE AND FOLLOW
The Christian life is compared to a race in which we are always moving. An important question to consider is from what are we running, and what are we pursuing?
We are to actively and intensely flee from the lusts of our flesh, which would give us temporary gratification, but which would also have long-term consequences for us. We are to pursue godly attributes that will help us develop strong character. Where we stand currently is not as important as the direction in which we are headed. One of the most important aspects of running this race is to run with those who are headed in the same direction and pursuing the same goals. Flee and follow!
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. - 2 Timothy 2:22
