BYPRODUCTS OF AFFLICTION
We must admit that most of our growth and life transformation does not occur during times of ease and comfort, but during times of affliction.
Before I was afflicted, I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
- Psalm 119:67
When things are going quite well for us, it is easy to take our focus off God and spiritual matters. Affliction is not always a punishment. Sometimes it is just a painful part of our growth process. May God help us to learn to stay close to Him even during the best of times, and may we never give up or wonder farther away from Him when we are afflicted, whether physically, emotionally, or relationally. May it be our aim to keep His Word before affliction comes, while we are going through it, and even more so afterwards.
