FROM DEAD IN SIN TO ALIVE IN CHRIST

The Scriptures use many words to describe life before salvation in Christ. One of them is being dead in sin.

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

- Ephesians 2:1-2

Death is separation, and we were truly separated from God before we were saved. At best, we ignored Jesus or were running from Him, and at worst, we were hostile against Him in our hearts. This was manifested in a great love for sin, a disdain for worship, and in the Bible being a closed book of unbearable rules. But salvation takes us from death to life! As believers in Christ, we now have a love for God and His Word, and find joy and fulfillment in worshiping Him. We should also have a growing hatred for the sin that once controlled us.
