GREAT VALUE AND GREAT REWARD
The most precious possession that believers possess is the Word of God. And while our flesh may sometimes shrink back from it, our souls desperately need it.
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
- Psalm 19:9b-11
It is more valuable than much fine gold. It is also sweeter than honey to our souls, for it nourishes and strengthens us to live righteously and overcome temptation. It is also absolutely true and righteous. When we heed the Word of God, it delivers us from much trouble and danger. It is also the path to blessing, because when we keep it, there is great reward! The reward is not simply in the knowing, but in the doing. And God delights in rewarding His children.
