A VITAL LIFE LESSON
When we are young, it may seem that we have endless days upon earth, but as we age, we become acutely aware that this is certainly not the case.
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
- Psalm 90:12
This lesson is not learned in school, but rather in the school of faith. It begins with a sincere prayer to make the best use of our days, because only the Lord knows when they will come to an end. And we cannot apply our hearts to wisdom without the Word of God. It will help keep us grounded and focused on eternity. Those who believe that this world is all there is may live for pleasure and earthly gain, but it will not profit them if they lose their souls. May we pray as the psalmist did, and find true fulfillment in this life as we prepare for the life to come.
