HANDLING TOUGH TRUTH

Sometimes the truth is hard to speak when it is an opposition to how the hearer is thinking or living. Sometimes the truth is hard to hear when it points out that we are clearly in the wrong. But we must speak the truth and receive the truth anyway.

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?  - Galatians 4:16

When we have to speak tough truth, we must do it in as gentle and loving a way as possible, knowing that even then it may not be received. If our facts are correct and our hearts and motives are right, we must do it even if we are perceived to be the enemy. When we have to hear tough truth, it is best that we do it with humility and honesty, even if it is not delivered in the best manner. Tough truth requires love, courage, and humility. It requires love and courage to speak it, and humility to receive it. In either case, let us not shy away from it.
