FAVOR AS A SHIELD
We will experience many physical dangers because we live in a sinful world. But even more so, we will be constantly under attack from the devil and his hosts because we belong to the Lord. But we need not fear.
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. - Psalm 5:12
We may sometimes feel that we are surrounded by evil that opposes us, but closer than any enemy, our God surrounds us with His favor. It is a shield of protection for us. Nothing can happen to us apart from God‘s permission. His favor is not something that we have earned, but it is given to us freely because of our faith in Christ for salvation. And because we are in Christ, we will ultimately overcome every foe.
