WATCH OUT FOR SPOILERS
Wherever God places that is true and genuine, Satan inserts a counterfeit. We must be on high alert, so as not to be deceived by him or his emissaries.
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

To be spoiled is to be led away as a captive by false doctrine. The way to avoid being spoiled by philosophy, empty deceit, and man-made traditions is to be rooted and grounded in the Word. Then we must keep growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Examine every teaching and experience in the light of Scripture. And be aware that the evil one likes to pervert the Word of God while proclaiming to believe it, yet inserting a “little” error. We must be 100% loyal to Christ and His Word, so that we will never be spoiled.
