WE MUST GO FORWARD
When our hearts are overwhelmed with sadness, discouragement, or grief, it is especially then that we must go on. This is exactly what our Lord did.
And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
- Mark 14:34-35
As our Lord anticipated the cross coming the next day, He became very sorrowful because for the first time in all of eternity, He would become separated from God the Father as He bore our sins on the cross. His revulsion of sin is beyond our comprehension. Yet He went forward, and He prayed. When we are hurting, and we cannot change our circumstances, we must trust God and go forward. Go forward in obedience, in prayer, and in dependence upon God. Christ came through on the other side of the cross, and so shall we come through our situation by God’s grace.
