SUFFERING WRONGFULLY
Our world is full of suffering. There is suffering because of sickness and accidents, there is suffering because of sin, and there is suffering because of righteousness.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
- 1 Peter 2:19-20
When we suffer because of our sin, we are simply reaping what we have sown. But when we suffer for righteousness, we should take it patiently, trusting in the Lord. He is watching over us, and no suffering or affliction can come to us without His permission. If the Lord permits it, then He will use it for our good and for His glory. And He is the just Judge of all the earth who will ultimately judge the wicked and reward faithful believers.
