PROBLEM PRAYERS
One of the sad realities of the Christian life is that we often do not get answers to prayer because we have not prayed. But sometimes prayers go unanswered because of the prayer itself or the motive behind it.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
- James 4:3
In truth, God always answers our prayers. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes the answer is to wait, and sometimes the answer is no. “Asking amiss” means asking for a selfish request or for selfish reasons. We need to ask ourselves why we want what we want. Is our request just a fleshly desire, or is it for the glory of God? Are we trying to impose our will on God or to yield to His will for us? The mindset of every prayer we pray should be “not my will Lord, but Yours be done.“ God always gives His best to those who leave the choice up to Him.
