REMEMBER WHAT YOU WERE

It is very easy to become smug and self-righteous when you are saved and have been delivered by God from many sins of your past. We must persistently resist this temptation.

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
-1  Corinthians 6:10-11

We must beware of becoming  self-righteous Pharisees, who despise sinners for sinning. In many cases, they are doing the same sins that we used to do. We must remember what we were and who saved us and cleansed us. And remember that we are still very much works in progress. No believer is any better than the worst sinner in the world. The difference between them and us is grace. We should pause and look back to remember being lost in sin, helpless, hopeless, and condemned. Then we can look upon the lost with compassion and pray for their salvation.
