SLIPPING, BUT NOT FALLING

Slipping and falling physically can be frightening and dangerous, but so can slipping and falling spiritually.

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
- Psalm 94:17-18

The devil is clever and he will use every opportunity to slip us up. But the Lord is our help even during times of firm footing. We must call upon Him when we find ourselves beginning to fall. Being filled with self-confidence and trying to maintain our Christian walk in our own strength is a recipe for failure. Our heavenly Father will hold us up with mighty hands better than an earthly father does with his little toddler learning to walk. Spiritual weakness is not necessarily bad, but neglecting to cry unto the Lord when you are slipping surely is.
