BLESSED REPETITION
We often do not appreciate having things said to us repeatedly, but we certainly do need it.
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
- Philippians 3:1
The simple truth is that we are very forgetful. This is especially true when it comes to spiritual matters. We need the same warnings over and over again because we are prone to wander. We need to read the same Scriptures over and over again because we tend to forget all the good that God has already done. We need to read the promises repeatedly lest we forget what our God can do, and instead spend all of our time focusing on our problems. Reading the same things, and hearing the same things, is not a burden when it comes to God’s Word, but it is certainly safe and beneficial.
