THE FEAR OF THE LORD
To be a God-fearing man or woman may not cause one to be respected in this world, but it is a definite advantage.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

The fear of the Lord is reverence and awe, but it is more than that. It is a holy dread that realizes that the Lord is in control of all things and that my life must be aligned with Him. It is to hate pride and sin in all of its forms because they are contrary to God. To fear the Lord is to receive counsel from His Word and thereby gain wisdom. To fear the Lord is to trust Him with my life and to receive strength from Him to live according to His plan. To live in the fear of the Lord is the way to live a life of fulfillment and joy.
