WHEN GOD HUMBLES HIMSELF
It is amazing that the God of all glory, all power, and all wisdom, who is the sum total of everything that is good, humbles Himself.
The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,
Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
- Psalm 113:5-8
He humbles Himself to see about us and care for us upon this earth. This reveals His great love and personal knowledge of every detail of our lives. If the most high God humbles Himself to deal with us, how much more do we need to humble ourselves? This shows us what is so bad about pride. The creature exalts itself, thinking that it is something that it is not. We need to humble ourselves in our own estimation, because everything that we have we have received. We need to humble ourselves in our relationships with others, because we, like them, are made from the dust and stamped with the image of God.
