SLOW TO ANGER

It is not a sin to be angry, but it is very difficult to be angry without sinning.
The Lord commands us by His grace to control our tempers.

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
- Proverbs 16:32

Humans are emotional, but God never intended that we should be led by our emotions. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to control them with a strength that is not our own. Controlling our spirit (attitude) is of greater value than being a conquering general, because we cannot effectively lead or control others if we do not first have control of ourselves. Temper control should be a matter of continual prayer and surrender to the Lord for His help. The result will be a blessing both to ourselves and to those with whom we are in relationship.
