JUST AND THE JUSTIFIER

Because God is holy and just, He would not and could not allow sinners into heaven on just any grounds. He made a way to do so without compromising His holiness.

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. - Romans 3:26

Righteous Christ came to earth to die on the cross the death of unrighteous sinners that we might be saved from our sins. When we trust in Him for salvation, our sins are credited to Him, and His righteousness is credited to our lives. That is how we are justified, which is to be declared righteous in the sight of God. This is how God remains just, but He also justifies all who believe in Christ for salvation. Because Christ paid the penalty for all our sins, by faith we now have His perfect righteousness to be received into heaven.
