SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT
Singing is in a sense an expression of our souls, and it is no wonder that the Psalms (the songbook of the Old Testament) is one of the longest in the Bible.
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. - Revelation 5:9-10
Why do we sing? Our Savior has redeemed us from sin by dying in our place. He has also made us kings and queens to reign with Him. More than that, He has made us priests to come to Him on behalf of others, and to go to others to tell them of Him. We sing not of our goodness or greatness, because we have none. We sing of our Lord, who has redeemed us in the past, sustains us, and provides for us in the present, and who will continue to bless us into the eons of eternity. We have not only something about which to sing, but also Someone about which to sing!
