COMPELLED BY LOVE

We have duties to fulfill in our spiritual lives, just as we do in all the other areas of life. But our Christian lifestyle and behavior should be directed by love rather than driven by guilt.

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
- 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

The more that we study and learn about the love of Christ for us, the more we will want to live for Him and serve Him. But this is not out of obligation or guilt, but rather out of gratitude for the fact that He willingly laid down His life for us. If Christ died for our sins (for He had none of His own), then we should gladly live for Him. Living the Christian life is no duty, rather it is a privilege. We do what we do not to receive a blessing, but because we have already been so greatly blessed.
