A BROKEN AND CONTRITE HEART
We all prefer happiness and laughter, but every person must go through pain, heartbreak, and brokenness.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
- Psalm 34:18
Having a broken heart is not a sign that God has forsaken us, or that He does not care. It is, however, a reminder that He is near. We have a great opportunity to draw unto the Lord in times of heartbreak, to pour out our hearts unto Him. This is especially true when we are repentant from sin that has hindered our relationship with the Lord. Let us not shrink back from the Lord in times of sorrow, but rather let us determine to draw near to Him. He knows, He cares, and He will give us the grace and strength to endure every hardship. And He will heal our broken hearts.
