WHEN HATRED IS GOOD
There is no circumstance in which it is acceptable to hate another human being. But there are certainly some things that we should hate.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. - Proverbs 8:13
When we love and fear the Lord, then we must come to the place where we hate those things that oppose Him, and ultimately are disastrous for ourselves. Pride is actually an attack on God’s honor and glory. The evil way is the unrighteous way. And the froward or crooked mouth is hurtful to others. All of these attitudes and behaviors end in pain and judgment. Because we love the Lord, we must learn to hate them intensely. This is a good hatred, and this is an important aspect of godly wisdom.
