THE HORRIBLE PIT
Our lives in sin before we believed in Christ are likened unto being in a horrible pit from which we could not escape. But we have a Deliverer!
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
- Psalm 40:2
We were stuck and sinking in sin, and try as we might, we could never climb out, jump out, or otherwise rescue ourselves. And no other person was powerful enough to pull us out. Then the Lord Jesus reached down and brought us up out of the pit! More than that, He set our feet upon a rock that is a firm foundation from which we could never slip into the pit again. And He has established our goings, leading us on a clear path away from the depths of sin, and on our way to heaven. This is our testimony!
